It is not recommended to use expired antifouling raw materials directly in their original core production applications; however, following compliant disposal, partial resource recovery is possible. Specific uses include:
Compliant recovery and secondary processing
Expired antifouling paint raw materials can be handed over to qualified chemical recovery enterprises. Through processes such as purification and reformulation, they can be converted into standard industrial anti-corrosive primers. These are suitable for basic rust protection on steel structures and outdoor facilities with lower performance requirements, thereby achieving resource recycling.
Downgraded use in non-core applications
Expired raw materials that have been professionally tested and confirmed free of excessive harmful components may be diluted for use in temporary antifouling or anti-rust treatments within non-critical areas of a facility-such as temporary protective coatings for idle equipment. They must not, however, be used directly in applications with strict compliance requirements, such as on ships or surfaces that come into contact with food.
Resource regeneration and reuse
Certain expired antifouling raw materials-specifically solvent-based ones-can be converted into recycled solvents through precision fractional distillation and purification technologies. These recycled solvents can be utilized in standard industrial production processes, such as resin synthesis, thereby reducing the risks associated with waste disposal.
