Adjustment Methods During the Synthesis Stage
Control Initiator Dosage: Maintain the initiator dosage at 1%–5% of the total monomer mass. Insufficient initiator leads to excessive resin viscosity, whereas a dosage of approximately 4% balances conversion rates and viscosity performance, preventing extremes that could compromise properties.
Select the Appropriate Initiator Type: Prioritize Azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator; it yields a narrower molecular weight distribution. Avoid Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO), which can cause branching, cross-linking, and abnormal viscosity spikes.
Adjust Resin Tg: Control the glass transition temperature (Tg) at approximately 76°C by balancing "soft" and "hard" monomers. An excessively high Tg directly increases resin viscosity, while an excessively low Tg impairs the matting effect.

 

Adjustment Methods During Application
Solvent Dilution:Add compatible diluents (such as xylene) and stir thoroughly to rapidly reduce system viscosity; this method is simple and suitable for standard paint formulation scenarios.
Specialized Additive Adjustment: Add 0.3%–0.6% of TT-936 alkali-swellable thickener to increase system viscosity. If the viscosity becomes too high, a small amount of wetting agent can be added to lower it; stir for 5–10 minutes to achieve a stable viscosity.
pH-Assisted Adjustment: For water-based systems, adjust the pH to 8–9 by adding aqueous ammonia. This allows for precise viscosity control via the thickener, catering to various application requirements.
